I spent quit a while phishing around google trying to figure out how to prevent posts with a certain label from appearing on my main page over at blogger/blogspot. Eventually, I used an adaptation of this method (also detailed here).

To applay this method, edit your blogger sites XML template (be sure to back it up first!), and click “Expand Widget Templates”. Now look for the line:

<b:loop values=’data:posts’ var=’post’>

And find the matching </b:loop> tag.

Replace them and everything between them with the following code:

<b:loop values=’data:posts’ var=’post’>
<b:if cond=’data:blog.url == data:blog.homepageUrl’>
<b:if cond=’data:post.labels’>
<b:loop values=’data:post.labels’ var=’label’>
<b:if cond=’data:label.isLast == &quot;true&quot;’>
<b:if cond=’data:label.name != “Label_To_Filter“>
<b:include data=’post’ name=’printPosts’/>
</b:if>
</b:if>
</b:loop>
</b:if>
<b:else/>
<b:include data=’post’ name=’printPosts’/>
</b:if>
</b:loop>

Now look for the last </b:includable> tag you can find, and paste this code directly after it:

<b:includable id=’printPosts’ var=’post’>
<b:if cond=’data:post.dateHeader’>
<h2 class=’date-header’>
<data:post.dateHeader/>
</h2>
</b:if>
<b:include data=’post’ name=’post’/>
<b:if cond=’data:blog.pageType == “item”‘>
<b:include data=’post’ name=’comments’/>
</b:if>
</b:includable>

Note that this code has a few bugs:

Posts with no label will not be displayed on the main page.

The filtered label must be the last label of a filtered post.

If all your recent stories belong to the filtered category, your blog may appear empty.

I consider these “Features” as they suit my need over at www.luxphile.com – preventing any of my Texture labeled posts from showing up on the main page, and also hiding unlabeled “Blog this” posts from Flickr.

This morning our hosts took us for a tour of Jeonju and the nearby area, in order to sample some local culture. First we visited a Buddhist temple just outside the city – it was absolutely amazing. be sure to check out the pictures.

Next we had lunch in a Korean restaurant – they seem to be very fond of “do-it-yourself” type meals. We had raw beef, vegetables, noodles and seasoning served to us on a metal plate, and then cooked on a gas stove installed right in the middle of the table. The food is very odd (acorn jelly – need I say more?), but also very tasty.

After lunch, we toured the “Korean cultural experience” and saw traditional housing, made Hanji (hand made paper), learned about Korean medicine and visited the last emperors grandsons residence.

Finally, we head out to the skating track. Located outdoors, in a large sports center, and alongside a hockey rink – we found a beautiful 200m banked track. After a short skate, we found that it was a bit bumpy, but nevertheless had great grip.

Roi decided not to risk injury on the banked track and decided not to race today. I, on the other hand, raced for 500m, 1,000m and 3,000m Elimination.

500m
I had a bad start, and couldn’t catch up. I spent the entire race (all 2.5 laps of it…) trying to get back in the pack rather unsuccessfully. I burned out during the last lap and finished last and far behind.

1,000m
This time I had a good start, stayed 3rd or fourth for a few laps, and managed to take the lead for the 4th lap. While I led for nearly the whole lap, I didn’t notice the attack brewing behind me, just before we started the 5th and final lap, the whole pack just whooshed by me. By the time I got my act together and accelerated, I was left fighting for 5th place.

3,000m Elimination
By far my best race. I got into the center of the pack right from the start, and kept my position for a long time. at some point I started fading back – but managed to sprint up to 8th place or so. Unfortunately I was unable to cement that achievement, and was quickly pushed back to the rear of the pack. After about 7 laps, the back of the pack began to thin out, and elimination became a real threat. I lasted for three or four more laps, until finally losing an elimination lap sprint to a skater that was behind me.
All in all I had good races. Roi caught everything on Video, and I even recorded my point of view with a helmet camera. I’ll be sure to post the videos soon. It was really great to get some more pack experience – I’m sure it will help me in my upcoming races.

It’s very late, and the half marathon tomorrow is early in the morning, so the rest of the pictures and videos will have to wait… be sure to check back tough!

In this small marshland environment you can find all sorts of wading an dabbling birds, turtles, rabbits, iguanas and, of course alligators (this is Florida, remember?).

Other than the fact that it was blistering hot, and as humid as your average sauna – it was quick a photo spot. Click on the image to see some more of the shots I took there.

CHEESEBURGERS! They pride themselves on providing free unlimited toppings and challenge the strong bellied to a 20 ounce (550gr) hamburger.

I was obviously not impressed, and devoured the small course, cheese and bacon included, without any real difficulty.

The restaurant has a tradition of commemorating the 20 ounce survivors. So I actually got my picture taken with a stuffed-animal-hamburger, and posted on the billboard!

The solution to this problem is downloading the Gmail java application files from the google servers here:
gm-Generic-Advanced_MIDP2.jad
gmail-g.jar
Then upload them to your phone using a data cable, and a J2ME media loader application like myJal. Depending on the software you use, you may have to rename the above files so that they have identical filenames (i.e. rename “gm-Generic-Advanced_MIDP2.jad” to “gmail-g.jad” – do not change the extensions!)

Once you load the files up to your phone “gmail” should appear in you Java applications folder. Clicking “gmail” will preform a short installation process, after which you will be prompted for your Gmail user-name and password. Once you enter your information, you’ll be logged on to your Gmail account and able to read and write mail!

Now that I am the proud owner of three different ones, I though I might point out some of the pros and cons of each.

So here they are, in the order I purchased them:

Fila 2006

My first skinsuit, very good fit and comfortable fabric. Good moisture wicking. As opposed to the two latter, the zipper in the Fila skinsuit is finished nicely and sewn into the fabric – so there is no danger of chafing an area that really shouldn’t be chafed…
Has a rather large zippered pocked that will hold keys, a cellphone and an energy bar.
Major shortcoming: no bottle pocket! thats the only thing that got me looking for another skinsuit in the first place.

Rollerblade 2006
Bought this one off a friend that got a size too small. Very form fitting, comfortable fabric – vented sides. This suite has more seams than the other two (for the vented sides and the different color seat) – but it didn’t seem to bother me much. Unfinished zipper that may find its way to unpleasant places.
Major feature: Good pockets! a sturdy, centered, bottle pocket that sits high up so as not to bother you when your hands are behind your back. But not so high that it is unreachable while skating. Two side pockets that can easily carry a cellphone/key + energy bar each!

Bont 2006

Most comfortable fabric of the three, form fitting. Unfinished zipper that may find its way to unpleasant places. Water bottle pocket to the right, that sits at the same hight as in a cycling jersey. Still not so low as to really bother you from putting your hands behind your back, you might be touching the bottle though. A smaller left pocket that will hold cellphone/keys + energy bar.
This pocket setup has some pros and cons: on the one hand, you have extra easy bottle access, but on the other, if your light on the left pocket, weight distribution is not 100% even. Didn’t notice this so much, especially once you start drinking.

Bounced e-mail messages I have been receiving have alerted me to the fact that e-mail spam appearing to originate from boazarad.com has been sent across the net.Allow me to assure you that these e-mail messages did not originate from my site. The headers of these messages are forged, and random e-mail addresses at “boazarad.com” have been added to the “From:” and “Replay to:” fields.

Grimthing.com suffered from a similar problem in 2005 and wrote a more detailed explanation of the issue, from a sysadmins point of view.

In short, if you have recived any unsolicited e-mail appearing to originate from this site, it was not sent by me and unfortunately, I have no control over it.

As of today, BoazArad.com has migrated to Wordpress.
The previous site engine was a homegrown, and very high maintenance PHP engine. Since posting and editing in my old engine were too time consuming – the site barely got any updates. Wordpress should help fix that problem.

Obviously, there will be some growing pains, and as you can see, most of the previous site content is offline. Old articles will be added retroactively, and I’m hoping to get the image and computer mod galleries back up soon.

The old site is still available here.

Thanks for your patience.
